Two-time county champions for St Peters!

In Nene Trust School News, St Peter's School

The amazing sporting journey continued as the children of St Peter’s recently represented the school in the ‘New Age Kurling’ county finals. The top ten from across the county competed in a very strong final with some outstanding talent on show. The team were amazing throughout the competition and after a closely fought final they were crowned county champions. This is a very proud achievement and the second year running that the school has won the event, which is part of the Northamptonshire School Games. Often it was the last throw of a stone that decided the nail biting matches with some ‘one in a million’ shots coming off. The team showed a tremendous attitude throughout the event and they cherished the opportunity to engage in a competitive sport. The winning medals were worn proudly for many days after the event.

Another county final appearance saw the sports hall athletics team finished fourth. The year 5 and 6 team thoroughly enjoyed the adrenaline packed atmosphere at the Kettering Arena as parents cheered from the balcony above. The support fuelled the runners to sprint quicker, jump further and smile even bigger. Year 6 team member Lila said that “I loved every minute of the competition. The atmosphere made it feel like an Olympics and this was very special. The whole team worked so well together and we did ourselves and the school proud.”
